Trump says Iran war "close to over" amid hopes for more negotiations
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Food Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 4.88% or 27.20 points to trade at 585.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barratt Redrow PLC (LON:BTRW) added 3.48% or 9.00 points to end at 267.30 and ICG PLC (LON:ICGIN) was up 3.31% or 57.00 points to 1,781.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which fell 3.53% or 103.50 points to trade at 2,829.50 at the close. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) declined 3.17% or 11.80 points to end at 360.80 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was down 3.03% or 112.00 points to 3,579.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 930 to 848 and 516 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.43% or 20.84 to $4,829.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.95% or 0.87 to hit $92.15 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.92 to trade at $95.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.36, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.85.
